“Relic” -Art journal page for “Find a face ” project.

I am creating a page every day with painted/drawn face (portrait) only for a week now and already feel some accomplishment. I am still experimenting with colors (palette) for portrait painting, but had good exercise in drawing human had and features.

Here is a quick journal page for today and a Face #7.

I collaged┬áthe background first, then “found “a face and painted it with acrylics. I find it more challenging to paint with acrylics (comparing to oils), because paint is drying very fast, there is no time to blend and smooth paint on the surface. At the same time acrylics are ideal for art journaling and Art books exactly because it dries fast. So I will continue practicing. My idea is to make myself try different styles and techniques.face 7

I love her eyes. They seem to really be looking at me. Great job!

This painting tells a story to me. I think the background couple are her parents who have traveled & left her with old pictures & told her stories of when they were young. She is wondering if she will find the love & happiness they shared.
Ha! How is that for letting my mind wander through a painting! lol!!! I love to find a story within a painting. Very nicely done, Oksana:)
